Dr. Dinesh Kumar is the Founder President of Global Energy Initiative, a New York-based international nonprofit organization, working toward safe, accessible, and sustainable energy for all. Before founding Global Energy Initiative, he served as Executive Director of World Energy Forum and played a pivotal role in the success of World Energy Forum 2012 that was held in Dubai in October 2012. He also started World Energy Monitor, a monthly publication, and was its Managing Editor.

Dr. Kumar has over fifteen years experience in academic research, teaching, non-profit management, and consultancy. He has worked for world’s leading institutions, including Columbia University, United Nations Association of USA, Jane’s Information Group and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has lectured in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and South Asia on topics that include, NGO Management and Leadership, Sustainable Energy, United Nations, and World Affairs.

Dr. Kumar’s analyses appeared on regular basis in the London-based Jane’s Intelligence Digest for eight years (1998-2006). He served as the “Inner Circle Member” of the Courcy’s Intelligence Service that provided comprehensive strategic, political, and economic risk analysis to its clients from all over the world. He also held editorial positions at the Asia Intelligence Ltd. 

Dr. Kumar is active in promoting economic cooperation and investment opportunities in the United States, Africa and in South Asia. Pioneering in multi-sector professional work across the globe, he has also excelled in advising and motivating young professionals to develop a global citizen spirit. He continues to support two schools for special children in India those he founded in 1997.

He holds a doctorate in international studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and postdoctoral fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
